The secondPrivate Hire of Tramlink was organised by the Southern Electric Group and billed as the "Addington Additive". Tram 2537 was used as with the LRTA tour, ran with 'Special' on the blinds, Colourful 99 Running Numbers and a 'Headboard'. The
tram visited all of Tramlink's four Terminii: New Addington, Beckenham
Junction, Elmers End and Wimbledon plus a run into the depot, through
the wash and along tracks 11 and 12 in the yard. Extra time was allowed
at the depot so a full tour could be taken and the tram was alighted
from and boarded in the yard. The tour also used two of the emergency crossovers at Addiscombe and Sandilands. Two Drivers worked the tour (one at each end), which along with a Controller to ensure rapid reversal through the crossovers. It was an excellent tour, keeping very closely to time to avoid delaying Service Trams. Unfortunatly, the service was slightly disrupted due to other problems resulting in us loosing one of our drivers and having an extended wait at the depot while controllers performed two tram swaps! Our thanks go to the Southern Electric Group, the excellent Tramlink staff who made the tour possible and of course Tramlink Management for allowing the tour to take place. |
